American Cancer Society – Daffodil Days 2008

A-TEK is once again proud to support the work of the American Cancer Society through corporate donations and with our participation in Daffodil Days; one of the Society’s oldest fundraising programs. For 35 years, Daffodil Days has empowered people to make a difference in the fight against cancer by raising funds and awareness to help beat the disease, and enabling the Society to offer free programs and services to improve the lives of people facing cancer. The daffodil – a symbol of hope for a future where cancer no longer threatens those we love.

 

Special OlympicsSpecial Olympics - 2008

A-TEK is recognized for another year in the Winners Circle at the Circle of Honor Level, participating in events and contributing since 2003. Special Olympics is dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Special Olympics offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round training and competition in 30 Olympic-type summer and winter sports, serving more than 2.5 million people in more than 165 countries.

 

Blue Ridge Speech & Hearing CenterBlue Ridge Speech & Hearing Center of Loudoun County -2008

The mission of Blue Ridge Speech and Hearing (BRSH) Center of Loudoun County is to improve the quality of life for people of all ages by helping them reach their greatest communication potential. BRSH has been providing services since 1964 to residents of Loudoun County, Fairfax County and surrounding communities. In fulfilling their mission of helping people communicate, BRSH provides hearing testing, hearing aids sales and service, assistive listening device sales and service, speech evaluations, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and computer-based learning enhancement programs. They also raise funds to provide hearing aids and services at little or no cost to those who are otherwise unable to afford them. A-TEK sponsors and participates at various events each year and A-TEK's President & CEO, Ms. Debbie Rieger, serves as Chair of the Board of Directors.

Second year as sponsor and participating. 10 million people around the world could die from breast cancer in the next 25 years without the cures. Susan G. Komen is dedicated to curing breast cancer at every stage - from the causes to the cures, to the pain and anxiety of every moment in between.

 

Newspaper in Education / LoudounTimes.comNewspapers in Education - 2008

Newspaper in Education (NIE) is an international program begun in 1955 to advance the use of newspapers in schools. The main purpose of the program is to improve reading, spelling and writing abilities. The Press-Enterprise has had an NIE Program for more than 20 years. The newspaper is delivered to nearly 50,000 students each year in more than 35 Inland Southern California school districts. During the school year NIE will provide over 1.3 million newspapers directly into students hands. A-TEK has been in this program since 2004, supporting Loudoun County Schools.

 

Children's National Medical CenterChildren's National Medical Center - 2007

A-TEK is recognized for the employee/employee matching fund raising campaign the summer of 2007 raising $7600 in donations! Children's National Medica Center has provided hope to sick children and their families throughout the region for more than 130 years. What started as a small hospital in the city has grown to a nationally recognized leader in pediatric medicine with research facilities, satellite offices around the beltway, and primary care centers. Their physicians and nurses are among the best in the nation -- providing everything from routine well-baby exams to pediatric specialists in all medical disciplines. Children's is also a research facility, with hundreds of grants and studies performed each year.

 

Capital HospiceCapital Hospice Women's Charity Golf Event - 2008

A-TEK has sponsored and participated in this annual event since 2005. The mission of Capital Hospice is to improve care for those facing life-limiting illness through direct support of patients and their families, public education and public advocacy. Charity Care provides nearly $1 million in services to patients and their families without insurance through the Patient Care Fund.
