Freeland’s Re-enter the Federal Government Contracting Market After 4 Year Hiatus

Leesburg, Virginia, July 12, 2010 – A-TEK, Inc., a privately held scientific and information technology solutions and consulting services company, announced today that it has been acquired by Kathryn and R. Gregory Freeland, Founder/Former Chief Executive Officer and President of RGII Technologies, Inc. formerly located in Annapolis, Maryland.

Headquartered in Leesburg, Virginia, A-TEK, Inc. provides scientific and information technology services and solutions to Federal government agencies. Founded in 1996 by A-TEK’s former owner, Debbie Rieger, A-TEK offers services and solutions in the areas of National Security and Intelligence, Enterprise IT, Life Sciences, Healthcare, and Law Enforcement. Supporting myriad customers across the federal government, A-TEK has over 180 employees in regional and customer site locations in 29 cities across the continental U. S., many of which possess U.S. government clearances.

A-TEK derives 100% of its business from the Federal Government. The company supports contracts with numerous federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Department of Health and Human Services/National Institutes of Health, Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Justice. As the Freelands first strategic acquisition, A-TEK clearly brings a successful track record with strong revenue growth and profitability.

In 2003, the Freelands sold RGII Technologies, Inc., which at the time, provided information technology solutions to nine presidential cabinet agencies within the Federal government, to Computer Horizons Corp. (CHC), via an strategic acquisition. In 2006, Kathryn Freeland, RGII’s Founder and CEO, left the company after completing a three year employment agreement as CEO of the company. Upon the Freeland’s departure, RGII was subsequently sold to NetStar-1, another federal government contractor headquartered in Rockville, Maryland.

The buy side transaction was represented by FOCUS LLC , a middle market investment bank firm founded in 1982 in Washington, DC. FOCUS provides a range of investment banking services tailored to the needs of emerging growth and middle market businesses. Today, FOCUS is a national firm serving clients from offices in major cities across the United States and specializing in serving businesses with revenues or transaction sizes between $5 million and $300 million. Eric Oganesoff, Managing Director, who led the search and transaction stated, “We are proud to have represented the Freeland’s in their acquisition of a fine company like A-TEK. My partner, Marshall Graham, and I initially profiled over 200 companies for the search, interviewing 98 CEOs of candidate companies and qualifying 15 finalists. A-TEK was the clear winner and represents the platform company with which Greg and Kathy can build a major Federal contracting enterprise.” The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Kathryn B. During her tenure as CEO, Mrs. Freeland played a vital role in business development, customer satisfaction, financial stability, and employee relations. Under Mrs. Freeland’s leadership, RGII more than tripled in size with revenue growing 4800% over an 11 year period. Prior to founding RGII, Mrs. Freeland spent over seven years supporting various Federal Government agencies in the areas of Financial, Information and Program Management Support. Mrs. Freeland is a visionary leader who has made her mark in the business community.

Mrs. Freeland holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Financial Management from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She most recently published her first book, Navigating Your Way to Business Success: An Entrepreneur’s Journey which was released in July 2009.

About R. Gregory Freeland
R. Gregory Freeland founded FiHoldings, Inc. in 2006 and is responsible for implementing the vision, strategic plan and business model to build a $500 million information systems, enterprise management, and technology enterprise within 5 to 7 years. He has a proven track record for successful business ownership, leadership and operations in the US and internationally delivering above double digit ROI (revenues & profits) growth annually to his previous investors, shareholders, stakeholders, customers and employees.

Mr. Freeland was President of RGII Technologies, Inc, a $50M Information Technology, Systems Integration and Engineering Solutions mid-size business headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland. Mr. Freeland joined RGII in 1993. Prior to joining RGII, Mr. Freeland provided management/business development consulting services to various technology companies in the Washington Metropolitan area. Mr. Freeland has over 25 years experience in Planning, Programming, Justifying, Budgeting and Execution of various IT, R&D, Procurement and Technical government programs.

As President of RGII, Mr. Freeland was directly responsible for all planning & execution of business development and key hire strategies for the company. Mr. Freeland developed, reviewed and approved all RGII divisions balance scorecard & Quality of Service (QOS) performance metrics, and annual new business capture plans including orchestrating the strategy, and policy development for achieving new sales & revenue goals. His primary responsibility was to build the company’s contract pipeline (tactical & strategic), which resulted in sustained revenue growth and profitability.

Mr. Freeland holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland at College Park, and an Associate of Arts Degree in Accounting from Prince George’s Community College.
